Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the dimension in the axial direction by efficiently disposing a clutch and a continuously variable transmission. SOLUTION: A torque converter 16 and a forward and backward switching device are disposed to a clutch 12 interposed between an engine and a continuously variable transmission 13. A space for housing a part of the forward and backward switching device is ensured at an inner periphery by setting a passage minimum diameter DS of the torque converter 16 to an about 50% of a passage maximum diameter DI. Further, a position of the passage maximum diameter DI with respect to the passage minimum diameter DS is offset at about 10% of a passage maximum width WT in the engine direction, whereby a space into which a component provided in a secondary pulley 20 of the continuously variable transmission 13 can face is ensured at the outer periphery.
